Implementation: 2019 to 2020
Grant: Neighborhoods and Priority Intervention Zones
Keywords: Youth Activism; Civic Participation; Citizens Engagement; Sustainable Development Goals; Inter-cultural dialogue.
Objective: Promote active and responsible civic participation among young people in their communities. This project aims to involve young people in volunteer activities in order to motivate them and make them feel capable of bringing about change in their community. In practical terms, this project will initially have a training phase for young people, where they will acquire the essential tools to perform their functions as volunteers. Subsequently, it will begin the phase in which 5 areas of intervention will be worked on. The 5 themes are environment, elderly people, children, people with disabilities, and animals. For each area, there will be 4 sessions: a diagnosis of the area to be intervened will be carried out; the young people will design volunteer projects; they will meet volunteers or organizations who will give their testimony about what it is like to volunteer; and finally, the young people will have their volunteer experience in the area being worked on. At the end, the young people will have the moment in which they will build the final project: a design of a volunteer activity. Thus, this project seeks to stimulate individual growth, promote experiences for each of the young people, contribute to changes in their communities, and promote citizenship and active and responsible participation.
