About us

The world has been facing new challenges in the past years, such as the refugee, economic, pandemic and war crisis, which contributed to the rising skepticism and anti-migrant political alternatives. These tensions resulted in Great Britain’s exit from the EU and fed right-wing political parties like the French National Front, Alternative für Deutschland, Italy’s far-right coalition, Freedom Party in the Netherlands, and others.

To tackle the rise of anti-migrant and anti-democratic movements it is not only important to raise awareness about the intrinsic democratic values and the importance of the civic and democratic participation of citizens, but mainly to understand the issues that make a shift on public opinion about societal priorities that make them voting to such political movements, as well as testing ways to engage new active citizens in change through political participation.

What we do

Our Institute develops scientific research and policy recommendation, as well as hosting diverse initiatives like debates, workshops, and other academic initiatives. We also have experience in project management, methodologies, and need analyses.

In our work, we not only develop methods to translate scientific knowledge to policy, but also develop methods to do citizen science by involving the civil society in the research we develop.
